Iím sure youíve seen pictures of Sandyís devastating aftermath up and down the East Coast in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. According to this site, 17 million people were affected by Sandy, 8 million were without power, 100,000 have been displaced from their home and 109 have died.
We are very fortunate in Florida to have escaped the majority of the wrath of Sandy.
For me, the following pictures put some perspective on the damage Sandy did up north considering the storm was smaller when it passed FL and it really didnít even ìhitî us. The storm + full moon caused significant damage, even here in Fort Lauderdale.
The following pictures were taken with a Panasonic Lumix G5 camera I was given to review by BlogHer. The Panasonic Lumix has 14 creative filters you can apply in the camera. Each of these pictures uses one of those effects, but no other filter or alterations. These were shot on October 30, 2012 … 3 days after Sandy blew by Florida, and 1 day after she made landfall in the Northeast. The first picture shows the ocean overflowing onto A1A…

Lots of people with metal detectors out on the beach … 
Lots of debris, wood, and trash. I actually collected a ton of plastic bottle caps for a Christmas craft brewing in my head! 
Crews worked around the clock to clean up A1A. A portion of this highway was blocked off for 4 days. 
Many of the palm trees were uprooted on the beach … 
The bulldozers are hard at work pushing the sand from the road back onto the beach … 
A few other things I really like about the Panasonic Lumix DSLR camera:
- I love that it has a level inside of the camera. It really helps me keep my pictures straight.
- The lens that comes with this camera is wider than my point and shoot. This comes in very handy for room shots!
- It takes awesome video. Camera + camcorder= greatness.

I try to take pictures daily mainly for the blog but sometimes i fail.
I usually take at least one a day, random instagrams usually but also greater frequency for blogging purposes.
I love taking pics on a regular basis, not just on special occasions.

I take photos almost every day. Every morning we walk or ride our bikes on a seven mile trail along a canal. There are all kinds of birds and wildlife there and I take a camera with me. I would love to have a DSLR so I could get better pictures.
I take pictures pretty much everyday. Sometimes with my cell phone, most of the time with my digital camera. On special occasions I still break out the regular film camera

For me it seems there’s always an opportunity to snap a quick shot of something mundane, but quite often beautiful, when seen through the eye of the camera’s lens. I see photographs framed in my mind’s eye everywhere I go. I carry my point and shoot camera in my purse, along with my wallet, it’s an essential part of everyday. I fell in love with digital technology, because on those occasions when I simply can’t adequately frame a shot successfully, I can so easily delete all my attempts… No harm, no foul. If my house were on fire, once I knew my family was safe, my photos and my camera are all that I’d be devastated to lose.
I usually take photos everyday.. I don’t own a point and shoot DSLR

The colors in these photos are unreal! I especially like the parking meter photo. I would love to upgrade from my point and shoot camera for pix like these. Of course, It’s the person taking the photos that makes the real difference!

Since my ‘good camera’ got broken, I have only had a point and shoot. Even with that, I like to take a lot of pictures whenever the mood strikes- no special occasion necessary.

I use a point and shoot and my IPhone as my DSLR camera is broken.
90% of the time I use my cell phone to take pictures…and I take some almost everyday. The DSLR is too heavy for me for everyday use….but this one seems to be perfect and light weight.

I use my phone for taking pictures currently. I used to use a point and shoot. Right now I would be happy with anything that isn’t my phone. I just got divorced we are planning a move it would be fantastic to have this to document the move with.

Because of it’s ease, I usually whip out my iPhone! I have a 35MM camera but, it’s way too complicated to have birds and boats stand still to get my shot. I need something to use that doesn’t frustrate me.

Great review, it really took some great shots of the damage from Hurricane Sandy in Florida. I’d love to have this camera. I want to start my own blog with the uninteresting things I do… and a camera would help immensely! It would do great closeups of food and my dog!

I love the wide range of Filter-options. It’s so diverse! But I also like the quick AF, because I find it so hard to capture moving objects in a still picture, and also get a good result. I’m always really focused on detail. And this camera realizes optimal detail in its photos!

I am ready to graduate to a DSLR…since my husband, one daughter and son-in-law have had beautiful results with their models, I envy being able to get gorgeous shots!

It’s the first point and shoot I have really liked, however, I would love to get into photography more, and your description and pictures make this camera sound like the one I should look into. Hopefully it didn’t take you to long to get back to normal in Florida. Sandy did a number on the US. I used to live by the water, sometimes in the water so I know what a headache it is to clean up salt water. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected.

Those are stunning photos. My point and shot is about 4-5 yrs. old and very big and clunky. I use photoshop to fix up the photos, but there is only so much you can do. The indoor photos are horrible. I would love to have some nice indoor shots someday! Love that it recommends a filter for you.

I take pictures for all big activites/get togethers, for that I borrow my mom’s camera. If I am out and see a cute photo op, I use my phone…like the the other day I took a flower arrangement class and I know I will include the pics in a shutterfly book, but i used my camera on the Galaxy 2

I currently have a Canon PowerShot SX30 IS and run my own Etsy photography business. I use my camera to take macro photos of nature and life around me. I also use it to take video vlogs for my youtube review channel. My hubby uses it as well for his vlogs. We both use it for personal stuff as well.
