2 years ago this month, my blog baby, C.R.A.F.T. was born
The very first post on C.R.A.F.T. was about this canvas. A lot has happened in the past 2 years (finished grad school, quit my first real job to move to South Florida to marry the BF).
I’ve become quite the computer geek. Things like SEO, html, google analytics, monetize, and animated gif’s meant nothing to me 2 years ago. Now I’m happily obsessed. The animated gif is my latest geeky adventure. (Super easy and free. I used this site). Check it out:
I didn’t have a big plan for the canvas (kind of like the blog 2 years ago). Painting doesn’t scare me because you can erase and delete whatever you don’t like so easily. This is the 3rd time this canvas has had a paint job.
During the move, I found this paint chip color collection designed for “room to room harmony” from HGTV by Sherwin Williams. I picked it up at a Sherwin Williams store awhile back for free. It’s become my inspiration for the living room, and was the color inspiration for the painting.
The Austin condo was a lot of brown and green with a little orange. I wanted to work with those colors, but add a little more spunk. This lovely little color collection basically laid it out for me. I quote the card, “This is the fun part because you simply can’t go wrong. Every color in the palette works beautifully together, so just pick out the ones that move you most, as many or a as few as you like.”
I didn’t realize, but HGTV and Sherwin Williams have 8 of these color collections. I am using global spice
I didn’t go out and buy new paint… I just mixed together my old acrylics… This painting was totally free.
Here is what it looked like hanging in the Austin condo:
I threw the green vinyl Ikea branched away during the move, and started with my blank canvas…
Needed more color
It ended up with a little Ikat pattern (you know the pattern that looks like blended chevron)…
Ikat pattern search on pinterest… it’s everywhere, and I’m lovin’ it.
Now the big dilemma, where to hang this sucker. It used to hang over the ktichen table, so I tried it there. It blended in with the peacock feathers and was too small for the space. Moving on…
I brought it over to the blogging corner, and this is where it lives now. It fits the space better and I like looking at it
Here is the before of the space with no pictures…
Stuff on the walls makes me happy
Have you painted or re painted any canvases lately? Are you a painter in general? You should be
Have you tried Painting with a Twist? How do you feel about the ikat pattern? Andy claims he liked the canvas better before… what do you think? Have you ever made an animated gif? I’m rambling. But, I’d love to hear…

I LOVE IT! GO JAMIE! Super cute paint job:) And I really like it by the desk. Happy 2 yr. blog bday!:)

Look what my class did this summer – I thought you would like to see it!
I'm a weaver, so I might be biased, but I like ikat, and those beautiful shifted warp threads!
I love how you did this. Fast and easy and anyone could do it the way you show it. I love paint and am a painter of walls and canvas. I wonder though, if you should turn the painting the other way? Just a thought. I too like my walls filled.
Very pretty!
