New Product: Vecco (Make your own rug!)

Believe it or not I learned about Vecco through one of my ad networks, Rivit.  The ad keeps popping up, and I decided to investigate. I mean make you own rug… sounds awesome and right up my alley. And I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect 5′ round rug for our entry way. I’m not exactly sure what “perfect” means yet… probably why it’s hard to find!
I haven’t shown you the entry way because it’s not cute at all. This is all you’ve seen from the wall tour post
That picture was just showing off the thumb prints that went on the wall. I hid all the crap that was laying around.  This is the real deal…

If you follow C.R.A.F.T. facebook, you might remember when I bought the mint green end table at a thrift store last month (or uhh 2 months ago). Actually, C.R.A.F.T. facebook is what convinced me to buy it! Y’all always help me make the best decisions… it’s like having your BFF in the dressing room to help you pick out an outfit! 65 thumbs 20 minutes later, I went back to the store and bought it! Thank you for talking some sense into me :)

It’s going to get a makeover one day soon. The thumbprints live above the mint green table, on the left side of this picture. But you can see the awkward, fairly large floor space we have there. I’ve measured and a 5 foot round rug is puuur-fect.
So, back to the point of the post… Vecco. It’s a new company that sells colors, sealants, and stencils to make your own rug. And get this… if you mess up (before you put the sealant on) you can vacuum up the color and start over!
We all want to know how much it costs, right?  From what I can tell, they sell rugs, but I think you can use the color, sealant, and stencils on almost any plain rug. It does say that Vecco products are not meant for looped fiber carpets (not sure exactly what that means?)

Here is the break down for the rug I’m interested in…
  • 5′ round rug costs $159.95
  • 13 colors to choose from @ $16.99 each
  • You have to use sealant @ $16.99
  • I might DIY my own stencil with tape?
That’s a grad total of $193.93 for a personalized rug. Not to shabby.  Assuming, you only want one color, and the shipping costs are not ridiculous.
Vecco sells kits too… I love some of the kits, but I don’t see any 5′ round rug kits yet. You can buy a kit to make a welcome mat for $49.99, a 3×5 rug for $139.99 or a 5×8 rug for $269.99. I think the kit is probably the best bet money wise.
The following 3 patterns are all kits you can currently buy…
I love this pattern…
and this pattern…
and you know I’ve been into the southwest thing (remember my shoes)…
Vecco is certainly a novel idea that I’m happy to know exists. Oh yea, the color they use is  a water based oil free formula (better for the environment), no volatile organic compounds (VOC, odorless, and made in the good ol’ US of A.

What do you think? Neat idea? Would you it? I’m thinking about it…

*I have not personally tried this product, I just think it looks like fun. I’m not being paid to write this review. I am getting paid per CPM for people clicking on the ad in this post or if you see it pop up on the side bar :)
