Mod Podge TP Holder

Let’s get right to the good stuff… the before and after! I turned this can of oatmeal…

into this:

Now, I bet you’re wondering what the heck a giant log is doing on the bathroom counter. The hidden treasures inside of the oatmeal container is…  2 rolls of TP! Who would have thought that 2 rolls of TP fit perfectly into a large Walmart oatmeal container. This is the kind of exciting stuff you could only learn about on C.R.A.F.T…. ha!

Here’s the deal… Plaid sent me a yummy box of goodies, and I had to make something. I was sold at “make something”! Just so you know, the Plaid section in the Walmart craft department is over flowing with crafty goodness… The craft department has gotten a lot bigger and better. I was amazed at all the product that was available!

Here’s what you need for the TP holder:

• Mod Podge (I used the gloss formula)
• empty large oatmeal container
• brown paper bags
• scissors
• thin brown sharpie
• twine
• hot glue
• wooden knob or finial (for the top of container)
• ruler

I buy quick oats (vs. old fashioned), but either container makes a perfect TP holder : )

First, cut your paper bag into 1 in,-ish strips. Next, I used my finger to apply mod podge to the oatmeal container, stuck on a strip and smothered it in more mod podge. Turning the container upside down proved to be the easiest way to apply the strips.

I let the container dry for an hour, and then used a thin sharpie and a metal ruler to draw lines and knot holes. I mod podged a circle of brown paper bag under the top of the lid, and hot glued the twine around the rim. I hot glued that finial on top, and you’re done-skies. Here hides 2 rolls of toilet paper on my mom’s bathroom counter top…

No need to store TP rolls on the back of the toilet anymore… The log is great for a small bathroom or a rental that doesn’t have any storage under the sink or above the toilet!  Ohhh…  just thought of this, the log would be a really cute family time capsule… you could “carve” your names and date in the log and make it a New Year’s Eve tradition to open it up each year. Just sayin’.
