Earth Day Freebie

Earth day is Sunday, April 22 and since I like to Create Really Awesome Free Things I figured Earth day needed some free love too. I wish I could claim I made this clever little saying up, but I most certainly stole it and it’s stuck in my head for quite some time now (kid’s t-shirt?). Anywho, I googled “owl doodle” and found this fun site. I doodled one the owls, took a picture and uploaded it to Microsoft word. I made most of my printables in Word. (I know, I know… we even have Photoshop on our computer!). I printed and framed it, added it to the wall of fame frames :) I might even get a map pencil and color it in a little. I take that back, I have no idea where the map pencils are hiding in my closet ginormous heap of craft crap.

The floor to ceiling, crazy big frame wall is coming together… more on that here.
Microsoft Word has handy tool that lets you remove the background from any image. I use it a lot. See it highlighted in this pic… Then, just pull the box around your entire image. It sometimes takes a little maneuvering, but so far I always make it work. Oh yea, the font I used is called MTX XOXO Vol 2, and you can download it for free here.

Don’t you think “Give a hoot, Don’t Pollute” would be fun on a canvas tote or a baby onesie? C.R.A.F.T. hosted an Earth Day linky party last year. So if you’re feeling crafty this weekend check out the list of 81 earth day goodies. In case you don’t know, the Seasonal C.R.A.F.T. tab, at the top of the blog, has a fairly organized list of crafts by holiday and month. Do you have Earth Day plans for this weekend? I saw this fun tutorial for growing wheat grass. I think I might take Andy on our first married Saturday afternoon Home Depot trip to get supplies and (possibly) start an Earth day tradition in casa de Dorobek.
Happy Earth Day!
