My first versin of Tweet Tarts was just a “T” I cut out of paper and glued to the top of a Sweet Tart box. Easy peasy, but a lots more expensive!

In other fun Mothers’s day crafts, I made my mama this handmade Draw Something card last year to tell her she is the best mom in the world! We love(d) that game, we actually haven’t been playing nearly as much as we were a few months ago. The Google card is another fun one! Do you like cheesy sayings? Do you stand at the checkout line in Target and think, “You’re NERDy, I mean thirty… Happy Birthday!” Yea, I do that. Kind of weird, right? And clearly, I’m the nerd, ha!

Olympic Crafts (olympics for 2012)

I’m another year older (and I think wiser) today : ) And guess what else, (if you read this post you already know)? I’m going to the 2012 Olympics in London to watch women’s gymnastics! I’m pretty dang excited. I think I’ve told y’all how my BFF owns a gymnastics gym for kids in NYC, right?  I’ve taught summer camp there every summer since it opened in 2002.  Tina takes a few of her top coaches to watch the Olympics every 4 years! Although, I’m not a top coach, we are BFF’s! I went to Athens in 2004… which was incredible. I had to pass on the Beijing games, since 2008 was the year I started my first teaching job and had to attend new teacher training. I did, however, live in Beijing in 2007, and saw lots of Olympic preparations and hoopla happen. So, I kind of feel like I was there for the 2008 summer games. Here are 2 of my favorite shots of Andy and I at the “bird’s nest” in Beijing. (read more about living in China here and here)

I’m super excited about the Olympics. I always have been… does anyone else vividly remember the 1996 games in Atlanta, when the Mag 7 won the team gold in women’s gymnastics?! Kerri Strug stuck her vault on one foot and then collapsed and had to be carried off of the mat or how about Dominique Moceanu’s floor routine to the Devil went Down to Georgia… I was 12, and I totally remember watching the Olympics all by myself locked in my parent’s bedroom so my little brother’s couldn’t interrupt my Olympic viewing!  So, in honor of my Olympic obsession and my birthday, I wanted to give you a little present to help you and the fam celebrate. Here are 3 coordinating cupcake toppers so that you can eat cupcakes and watch the Olympics! Or if you’re health conscious, stick ‘em fruit! Ohhh or make a cute banner! Oh the possibilities…

The mini cupcakes are from Target : ) (my icing would never look like that!) $2.99 for 12 complete with red and blue stars… can’t beat it! And they taste good too. What is your favorite summer Olympic memory? I’d love to hear…
