How to clean your keyboard

Whahoo! I’m headed to London today for the 2012 Olympic games!! I’m officially taking a week off of the ol’ blog.  I’ll be instagramming like a manic if you want to see my Olympic adventures… I’ve got tickets to 3 gymnastics events! My instagram is thecraftblog or follow along on twitter @thecraftblog ! Oh yea,  I made a London 2012 cupcake topper printable if you’d like to celebrate the games with cupcakes! Also, M.M.M. #117 will be ready to party again on August, 5th!

Our keyboard was disgusting. Check out the “\|” key. Sick me out. You would think the delete key or the enter key would be the super dirty one, but it’s the key that I never touch. Weird.

This is a sick  fact, but we’ve owned the computer for about 16 months and this is the first time we’ve cleaned the keyboard. Please tell me I’m no the only one…

EXPERIMENT: How to get a Melted Plastic Bag off of a Pot

The situation: (not to be mistaken for the situation…ha!) I was melting the marshmallows and butter for rice crispy treats. When low and be hold, the timer goes off, I pick up the pot and set it directly on top of the marshmallow bag. Pure genius :)

I posted on C.R.A.F.T. facebook, and y’all recommended these 3 products. I had all but the WD-40.I decided to try an…

It was very scientific… I divided my pot into 3 sections and used each product in the corresponding section.

The Verdict: All 3 products will work to get a plastic bag off of a pot!

3rd place: My least favorite was the WD-40. It smells, it’s greasy, it’s not nice on the hands, and it takes more effort to scrub the plastic off of the pot.
2nd place: BKF is a close runner up to Goo Gone. They almost tied. While BKF smells a little better, it is runny and requires slightly more muscle power than Goo Gone.

and the winner goes to…

1st place: Goo Gone! The spray nozzle allows for exact aim and it required the least amount of tough scrubbing.

Have you ever stuck a plastic bag to a pan? I’d love to hear I’m not the only too-speedy-for-my-own-good cook! What did you use to clean your pan?

Air Vents and Scents

This may not be earth shattering, but it sure does smell good and fit perfect :)  Our ceiling air vent proves to be a big dilemma every time it has to be changed. It needs to be 15 3/4 x 23 3/4. But guess what, we can’t find that size anywhere, imagine that :) Since it on the ceiling (versus being on a wall) it has to fit perfectly. Surely someone else out there has this issue, right?!

This is the exciting part of the post :) (well, as exciting as a post about air vents can be!)

We buy a 16 x 25 air vent. It is the closest thing there is to what we need

Measure and cut to make it the exact dimensions.

Use an exacto to cut…

Pull off the extra cardboard…

Push the stuff back into the vent…

Now for the super exciting stuff… open up your French Scent packet and reveal the blue stickiness… I chose the country cotton scent :) There were at least 10 scents to choose from. We smelled. them. all. (5 times each!) Lavender was a close second…
Place sticky side down under the vent…

Workin’ it…

aren’t we cute :)

The house smells delicious. I’m not going to lie, the flavor was super intense for about 4 days. It’s been 2 weeks now, and the smell is subtle and lovely :) How do you feel about air fresheners? What is your favorite scent? Do you have a favorite air  freshener brand (I have a car scentsy thing I LOVE)? Do you have to DIY your own air vent? I would love to hear your thoughts on scents and vents :)

UPDATE: The Elliot’s informed me of filters-now.com–you can get any filter ANY size, any time.  Just thought this might be a helpful tid bit for others with filter dilemmas :)
