I’ve posted a little about the surprise party! (here)
I made 3 different garlands to spruce up the house…
{I’m lovin’ garland [garland round up] right now because it is easy to make, use stuff from around the house, and you can store them around a toilet paper roll in a little zip lock in your closet!}
Materials: itty bitty fabric scraps [seriously, i save ridiculous scraps!], yarn, coasters, t-shirts, really any kind of fabric like stuff, doily’s, and adhesive card stock!!
Garland #1: [As seen in the happy birthday picture!] Very simple. Cut scraps of fabric in diamond shapes and sew into a triangle over the yarn
each one is sewn on different—i L O V E this kind of sewing!
Garland #2: This one uses the coasters [above] t-shirt scraps and adhesive card stock…it is the one with the colorful dots! I spray painted the coaster gray and black… and cut squares of a old, white, crusty, t-shirts…then used my same, fabulous sewing technique! Then used a glass to trace and cut circles from card stock and stuck 2 circles between the yarn wherever I felt like one needed to be!
Garland #3: NO Sewing 
Just taping doilies…This one was definitely the easiest to make…fold doily over yarn and tape It was nice because I could move the doily’s around to create the perfect swoop! With the garlands that are sewn, this is not an option…so think about how many items you want in a swoop [does that make any sense?!]
